Women and Minority Business Owners Set the Pace for Economic Growth

The National Business & Economic Outlook for the coming 12 months presents a blend of promising growth opportunities and notable challenges. According to the "2024 Women and Minority Business Owner Spotlight" report by Bank of America, over 70% of women and minority business owners expect revenue growth, indicating strong optimism. Notably, minority business owners show increased confidence, with 78% predicting an improved economic environment compared to 2023.

Nonprofits often time face ongoing challenges with funding,  In 2023 a report from NonProfit PRO stated, that 76% of nonprofits reported significant funding challenges due to economic downturns and the erosion of donor bases. The problem is exacerbated by the nonprofit sector’s heavy reliance on large donors—contributions from major donors, who account for nearly 75% of total dollars donated, declined by 10% in the first quarter of 2023​ (Association of Fundraising Professionals)

What Does the SBA Announcement of $3 Million in New Grant Funding to Strengthen Cybersecurity Infrastructure for Emerging Small Businesses Mean for You?

Administrator Isabel Casillas Guzman, head of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), announced $3 million in new funding under the Cybersecurity for Small Businesses Pilot Program. Three grants will be awarded to state agencies to provide training, counseling, and other tailored cybersecurity services for startups and emerging entrepreneurs. “With small businesses accounting for 99.9 percent of all American businesses and employing nearly half of the private workforce, any cyber threat to our small businesses is a threat to our country’s overall economy,” said SBA Administrator Guzman.

Applications will be accepted from July 2-Aug. 2, and applicants can apply for awards ranging from $1,000,000 to $1,045,000 for a performance period of 24 months ending September 2026.
